frozen follies

i'm wearing a tutu, corset, miniature top hat and layers of necklaces. linus is shredding a giant purple ribbon to bits (it was tied on his neck) and lucy is limping through the room yowling with her leg stuck through the neckhole of an old doll dress. the plan was to put on a show, you know, like we used to do when we were kids! i was going to make a stagefront from old cardboard boxes, too. sadly the cats aren't cooperating. and i was just preparing for my musical number!
the house is so cold there's ice on the inside of the windows. i turned the heat on this morning but bill got up and turned it off again. and i mean OFF - no lowering of the temp here, he cuts it off completely. i swear i'm going to catch pneumonia and die. he thinks we should just use space heaters all the time but electrical fees have gone up 20% this year and my little heater is so worn out that it shudders when i turn it on.

this picture shows what it feels like inside my house:
i was getting ready on wednesday when i realized i could see my breath. don't i look pissed?
my breath clouds didn't show up in the picture. too bad. it's kinda creepy. i want this snow cone cart. i could be a snow cone vendor! would it be acceptable to get a monkey to go along with it? this is my future career.the grass had frost so thick i was sliding on it. like ice skating or something.i will be living in sweaters suits and layered tights for the next three months.
linus has managed to get the ribbon off and he's climbed under the covers on the bed. i think i'm turning into a popsicle. it's too fucking cold! does anyone want to adopt us for the winter months? all we need is someplace with heat...

what the hell happened to november?

how the hell is it december already? cripes.
this is my new favorite coat. it the shawl sleeves that i love best. not that the kick ass sash collar isn't great as well. i almost sold this. so happy i didn't. thank you late spring and value village for letting her fall into my sweaty mitts.

i've started wearing my sweater suits again. remember my control top panties confession? these things are the reason for the squeezin'. i hate the rolling lumps and bumps that are just part of my fine german physique. master race my ass!this was my creepy penguin cookie. he was delicious.i embroidered a flapper face onto my blue jacket. i think it's going to be a project piece. i'll just keep adding until it gets out of control or bejeweled-ish or something.
i can't afford to buy the replacement heads for my sonicare so i'm back to the manual toothbrush. i hate it. that's why i'm not showing my teeth.
i have so many more pictures to post including my solo leaky thanksgiving and puke-y weekend (i had to miss faith's kumite birthday!) but i'm just not in the mood. really haven't been lately. this is a crappy post but it's a big step for me. really. my life is that lame that it really is. and just wait 'til you see my wish list for santa. you'll cry.

ha ha.

they found ice on the moon.
throwing on one of my grammie's old dresses is always a treat. how lucky am i that she was such a stylin' gal?i finally started watching gossip girl with the sound on. i needed to catch up so last night i started watching season 1. why can't kids dress like them? why do i have to be subjected to crap like this?i mean really, on what planet is this a good look? do you own a mirror? you look like a sideshow. and NOT in a good way. the thug twins - adorable.
so how disappointed was i to find out the ivar's underwater billboards were a hoax?if you don't know the story, ivar's is a seafood restaurant here in seattle that's been around for, like, ever. ivar haglund played a lot of pranks and was a total character but also a visionary. a couple months ago, this story "surfaced" that ivar believed everyone would travel by submarine in the future. in the 50s to capitalize on this, he put billboards for his restaurant underwater in the puget sound. so then someone finds a map telling where the billboards are. the divers go down, pull them up, and now they're posted around the city. i pass two nearly every day.charming story, right? so now it comes out that it was a hoax. props to them for pulling it off. that's not what i'm upset about. i'm sad because it was so weird and cool that i really wanted it to be true. next you're gonna tell me elvis is dead and jamie lee curtis isn't really a sex chromosome abnormality, right?
looks like a pump, feels like a sneaker.
i think i may cry in my beer.

i think she looks like a nice vamp

i listened to the raveonettes all the way home. they kinda rock.
i love that when they used the term "vamp" that they meant it in the traditional way. c'mon, peoples! they mean theda bara vamping, not some lame ass goth slut smeared in blood! google search images for "vamp" sometime. the results are sad as hell.

on one of my very favorite little rascals shorts, a little girl with spit curls vamps wheezer, my all-time favorite rascal, so he'll give her his candy. watching a five year-old in lipstick impersonate the theda bara eye twitch is an experience. i think it should be used in schools nowadays to teach kids what's cool instead of this weird hanson-montana-little-woof-woof or whatever the hell his name is crap.

hey kids, here's your tutorial.
GOOD:BAD:SWEET:SAD:somebody shoulda invested in a morning after pill. or two. or maybe just some class. give the brats something admirable to inherit.

in my closet cleaning quest i found this great embroidered jacket i totally forgot about.just add tacky pink bridesmaid dress, mme fortuna necklace, boots and a flower and you're ready for work! if you're crazy enough to dress like me, that is.

sing along with the common people

sing along and it might just get you through.
i totally go through color phases with my clothes. it's been very black and white lately. sorta ipso facto, with louise brooks pearls thrown in for good measure.plus i match the cats.
i've also been on this total cape kick. my red plaid one is the best - it's like wearing a blanket (warmth, comfort) but pulling off that little red riding hood look as well.
heck, even buffy rocked that look.
i want one of these capes. maybe i'll make one for myself. how hilarious would that be?
someone i haven't talked to for about 16 years just e mailed me yesterday. how wacky is that? it's odd to think that someone from that long ago even remembers me, especially since we've had no contact in that entire time. it's also kinda scary because i don't so much want to know how much i have/haven't changed. i don't think i was a very nice person back then but i was 30lbs lighter, much more outgoing and confident, a bit too cocky and, well, 18 years old. who knows? maybe i'm the same and maybe that isn't such a bad thing. i'd like to think that more than my hips and boobs have grown since then. i bet he's reading this and laughing at me right now. you are, aren't you? i'm such a dork.tomorrow is payday. i'm hoping i can make enough to pay a good portion of rent. and buy some groceries. i think i'm finally graduating up from soups for good. tuesday's dinner helped a lot (thank you, frank!) and i'm feeling almost not sick. yays! now if i could just make it down to portland....

That's the last time you put a knife in me! Y'hear me?

you'd think that by now i wouldn't be so distracted by planes flying overhead - not so.
don't you love it when you find clothes you forgot you had? i got this crazy idea that i have SAD and i need to move to a sunnier climate (and yes heather, austin and YOU are at the top of my list) and in order to do so, i have to scale down my life. that means cleaning out my closet. in the process of shoving countless unworn cotton dresses, elastic waist skirts and hooded sweatshirts into a large goodwill bag, i came across this little johnathan logan gem. how did i ever miss you? what a score!i met up with frank for dinner at squid and ink, a little vegan dive in georgetown. i'd been meaning to try it for a long time and, holy crap, am i ever happy i did!
"i think they took happiness, smashed it into a patty, breaded it with love and smothered it in gravy." that was my description of my "chicken" fried steak. it was nummy and the prices kicked ass. btw they have mannys on tap. yays!

stereo total makes me very happy, too. tu es lunatique!

i accidentally vacummed up cat fresh linus puke (don't ask) and now everytime i turn on the vacuum it smells like tender vittles. that sucks. it's cold and i'm full and tired so i snagged my copy of "the royal tennebaums" and climbed into bed. did you know it was inspired by orson welle's "the magnificent ambersons"? i adore both films for their dysfunctionalities and quirkitudes. yes i made those words up.but how can you NOT love wes anderson with lines like this?
Ethel: Are you crazy? Royal: Baby. I am dying. Ethel: Are you or aren't you? Ethel: Dying? Yeah.Richie: I wrote a suicide note. Chas: You did? Richie: Yeah, right after I regained consciousness. Chas: Well what does it say? Is it dark? Richie: Of course it's dark, it's a suicide note. Chas: Can I read it? Richie: No. Chas: Well could you at least summarize it for us? and the costumes? hell yes.i also found my cyndi lauper purse and leopard coat while cleaning. i feel like a new girl.
plus i think i'm buzzed.

it's gone gone gone and life goes on and on

i missed it this year. hope yours was lovely!
(i'll save the mary poppins get-up for next year or maybe just wear it on a random thursday. who knows?)
i'm slowly getting back to solid foods. well, solider soups, that is. and boy am i ever run down. whatever hit me sure hit me hard. why did it have to hit the week of halloween?
linus and lucy were very happy to have me in bed all day saturday. they took turns laying across my neck. have you ever worn a living stole?
oh yes, i wore my fez all day friday. i'm so fascinated by masonic symbols and lore, and the shriners are truly the jackpot of the masonic bunch.spooky. i actually believe they're magic.i watched a lot of movies yesterday and while many of them were of the horror variety, i also watched some more mary pickford films. i really didn't want to like her (it's that louise brooks streak in me) but i can't help it.isn't she a doll?
i know it's totally cliche but i actually had a dream with a busby berkely dance scene last night.
i woke up in the midst of it and even though i tried as hard as i could i just couldn't get back to it. i hate it when that happens. i've taken to airbrushing blemishes into my pictures. why not?
i'm getting really fed up with my life.
