what the hell happened to november?

how the hell is it december already? cripes.
this is my new favorite coat. it the shawl sleeves that i love best. not that the kick ass sash collar isn't great as well. i almost sold this. so happy i didn't. thank you late spring and value village for letting her fall into my sweaty mitts.

i've started wearing my sweater suits again. remember my control top panties confession? these things are the reason for the squeezin'. i hate the rolling lumps and bumps that are just part of my fine german physique. master race my ass!this was my creepy penguin cookie. he was delicious.i embroidered a flapper face onto my blue jacket. i think it's going to be a project piece. i'll just keep adding until it gets out of control or bejeweled-ish or something.
i can't afford to buy the replacement heads for my sonicare so i'm back to the manual toothbrush. i hate it. that's why i'm not showing my teeth.
i have so many more pictures to post including my solo leaky thanksgiving and puke-y weekend (i had to miss faith's kumite birthday!) but i'm just not in the mood. really haven't been lately. this is a crappy post but it's a big step for me. really. my life is that lame that it really is. and just wait 'til you see my wish list for santa. you'll cry.

oh i see you shivering in the garden...

it's supposed to be fall. why is it so sunny and hot? this is seattle. we're not equipped for weather like this. it throws our depression out of whack.
i'm trying to balance myself by listening to copious amounts of pulp. i played it through the computer all day at the office using pandora. i think i heard "common people" 11 times since i kept having to make new radio stations. every time it played something besides pulp, i hit the skip button. apparently you can only skip a certain amount of songs before you have to create a new station. pandora sucks.90s era jarvis cocker does not suck. i blame it all on automne since her wedding renewed my pulp love. can't it just be all pulp all the time?
i think i'm gonna embroider on the front lawn and listen to them some more.

and even though i'm not there...

...i still have tons of birthday love to send out to automne and nicole j. i ate this whole bowl of doughnut holes just for you! (well not yet, but give me time.)
and believe me when i say there are some kick ass presents shaping up for each of you.
nom nom and lots of love!

everyday is like sunday

or at least today is like sunday. a morrissey sunday. except it's not silent or gray. and it really is sunday instead of just being like sunday. so i guess it's really not like sunday at all. except that it is. just not like a morrissey sunday. crap.
it's beautiful outside and josh and i were supposed to hang out all day. sadly something came up and he had to bail early afternoon so we're rain-checking our sunday fun day plans. we did rock out in my car to ELO's "mister blue sky" while driving through downtown seattle on my way to drop him off so that was a hilarious end to our abbreviated plans. no film fest for me today.
so then what to do for the rest of the day? i considered getting some stuff ready for etsy postings (like this gorgeous shawl sleeve coat) but i'm just not in a modeling mood. go figure. but i do have some birthday presents to make so i'm digging out my needles for an embroidery session. yay!
granted they won't be as odd or gorgeous as this but i do promise to take pictures of the results and share them with you all. i just know you're dying to see what i do (that was sarcasm).

i'm really seeing a strange circus theme as inspiration for today's designs...
hmmmmmmmmm.... sideshow embroidery..... that has some serious potential.

etsy posts are there!

this is my perplexed face - i'm staring at the fed ex driver as he jumps the curb in his big white truck. wtf?
the past week has been laborious even though i still don't have a job. i've killed my back from sitting on my bed and embroidering while watching bad horror movies. remember "popcorn"?
this may jog your memory...

yeah, it's that bad. but you have to watch it - you'll pee yourself when the reggae band plays their horror film song complete with sound bites from the film. so pathetic! i loved it.i've always been scared of ventriloquist dummies so i have no idea why i subjected myself to "dead silence". oh yeah i do, donnie wahlberg plays a hard nosed cop!
this one is actually pretty scary. consider yourself warned.but i did my etsy postings today. yay!five embroidered pieces have made their internet debut.
here's hoping they sell! i'm taking the night off from stitching so i can rest my back. ouches!
i stopped by my sister's today so we could plan our yard sale. may 9th is our firm date. god i hope it doesn't rain.

embroidery of the day no. 6

no one can say i don't stay busy!
today was definitely an homage to hitchcock. i started with the yellow dress emblazoned with the birds logo. just a tad bit of fine tuning to finish it. i adore this dress but it is too small for me. i bought it from thrush and was crushed when my fat arms wouldn't slip into the sleeves. hopefully someone will find it to their liking. i'll be selling it at a loss. c'est la vie. it has such an adorable peter pan collar and the sweetest ruffle on the bottom.
the alfred hitchcock silhouette has always been a personal favorite of mine. i stitched it onto the back of a sweet ruffled front dress from target in pink...and onto a great levis western shirt with cherry snaps in green. i used the floss that changes tone throughout on both pieces and kinda like the effect.whilst working on these babies, i crock potted (is that a verb? it is now!) an incredible dinner of cocoa mole chicken with yams over brown rice. and it wasn't instant rice - this was the real deal. i also tried to get rid of the squirrels that have taken up residence on my roof and in our vents with chili powder. i feel like a sadistic martha stewart and i kinda like that feeling. ok, time to rest. more adventures tomorrow when i start posting my wares on etsy.

could you please untie me so i can smoke?

i dozed off while watching the big sleep last night. this scene cracked me up.
felt sorta snow white-ish when i woke up today. maybe it's the princess-as-poor-servant vibe i've been feeling. i really was born to be rich. can't someone help me?
busy day ahead. i'm up to my elbows in embroidery projects and i fear i won't get the postings up until late. oh well, better late than pregnant, right?

embroidery of the day no. 5

i made another eye dress. this one is pink embroidery on black velvet. it's kinda spooky!
i'm going to start posting them on monday. i'm hoping to get two or three more done over the weekend but i'm in need of more transfer paper.
next design will be franciscan starburst! i finally figured out the best way to do it.
i also need some more suggestions for designs. throw some ideas out at me. if i pick yours, i'll make a special piece just for you as a thank you!

embroidery of the day no. 4

linus loves the dead kitty dress,
it's not as subtle as it looks here - hard to get it to show up in the pictures because of the pattern of the dress. it's gonna stay with me, i think.
i made another dresden dolls dress. this time i used a late 60s/early 70s I Magnin dress. i also added more detail to the embroidery. it turned out so good! this one will be in my shop - it's too tight in the hips for me.

it's way too cold to be spring!

i'm kicking winter outta seattle. buh-bye! leave now!
i wore my new dress down to get coffee this morning and the girls at starbucks freaked. i'll be attempting some new stuff like my kitten and franciscan starburst tattoos. is it weird to embroider my clothes with the same stuff i have emblazoned on my skin? if it is, why should i care?
i made baked macaroni and cheese with Gruyere for my late lunch. it was so good.
i really wanna stitch more but it's so cold, my fingers feel numb. ergh. gonna take a quick rest and then meet up with cory. our suesday has been delayed this week but better late than never.

embroidery of the day no. 3

so i'm officially obsessed with embroidery. it's almost 3a and i'm forcing myself to sleep before trying to do another.
the amanda palmer eye dress detail the dresden dolls dress detail

as tired as i am, i gotta admit it's a pretty healthy obsession. i mean, i do need something to fill my time and as i get better, maybe i can etsy some of these things. i'll branch out beyond my sick afp fixation, of course.

i'm so tickled with how the eye turned out. it was half freehand, too.

embroidery of the day no. 2

the dresden dolls heart/plane/arrow/pen logo onto a prim square dance dress. yay!

hello kitty

i didn't wake up to the sun today. sad. seattle has returned to its dismal grey cloudy skies. c'est la vie!
i bought myself a "grown-up wallet" a few years ago. you know what i mean - wide, spot for a check book, credit card compartment, etc. so my "grown-up wallet" was black with skulls and red vinyl scallops - i gotta make some allowance for personality!
being vinyl, it had started to fall apart. i love this thing but it got ratty tatty and i had to face up the fact that it had to go. i've been searching for a replacement for eight months with no luck. until today, that is!
i made my semi-annual trek to uwajimaya. if you don't know about it, it's a seattle asian shopping institution. i know they're a chain now, but they started here in 1928. it's basically a mecca for anything asian, especially when you make it to the mothership in the international district. we're talking 60,000+ sq feet of engrish, my friends. true love! lenny and i used to go there to buy personal care products with dirty sounding names. too fun.
so while rummaging through the assorted parasols and paper lanterns, i found my wallet. love love love. it's a black leather "grown-up wallet" with studs and a metal hello kitty plaque. yay! plus, it was on clearance. total total score! so happy! it's no longer embarrassing to pay for stuff. well, until my debit card gets declined, that is.
so i think it's a law that you have to buy random and impractical things when you visit uwajimaya. since the wallet was practical, i had to do a bit more shopping. what did i come up with to make my quota of randomness?incense matches! great for the bathroom, btw.
hello kitty giant jawbreaker! yum.
jasmine soap and chinese take-out boxes!!!
mission accomplished.
i had to run by target for midol. i think i should start mainlining the stuff cause when i get my dot, i get the most crippling cramps and nausea. what do other people do? oh yeah - they have jobs and medical insurance. silly me.
so my new embroidery obsession kept me up half the night stitching dead birds and sleepy chickens onto everything. i had to wear some of my art today, so here's a detail of my amateur bird dress.
yesterday i mentioned my little beret score from the goodwill. i washed it and decked it out with amanda fucking palmer buttons and wore it today.
i adore these silly buttons. these ones are for "guitar hero" and "ampersand."
time for a quick nap (midol makes me sleepy), some more embroidery and a few movies. let's see what i can do today.
