so where was i, you ask?
i met up with frank for a much needed after-work-decompression drink and dinner at the pink door, one of my most favoritest restaurants in seattle even though i've only been there twice. it's in an alley at the pike place market and the closest thing they have to a sign is that little one hanging on the door. quaint, no?
upon entering, this is your view. what's not to love? well, except the long flight of stairs. (it's that damned crippled ankle that makes coming here really painful.)
on certain nights, aerialists perform over the dining room.
there were no aerialists tonight but this 90 year old dude from the band setting up almost knocked frank's head in.
is it narcissitic to say i love all the mirrors? i don't use them while dining, i just like the look they give the place.
poor frank - i think my sarcasm really frazzled his nerves tonight. he even strangled a water glass at one point! sorry - had to share that one. i had a blast and i believe that once the water glass had been put out of it's misery that he enjoyed himself as well. good times and a much needed midweek reprieve from the grind of work. why postpone all the fun for the weekend, right?
it wasn't until i went to put my coat on that i noticed the pudgy cheeked rick springfield guardian angel watching over me. i had to take a picture. wtf?
and guess what? when i joked with the waiter that i'd take my meager pasta leftovers with because it was a recession, he fixed me up with a big ol' bag including more bread and big cup of their infused olive oil. happy!
so now i'm in bed in my flannel sock monkey pajamas with a cat tucked under each arm, a full tummy, and a long list of e mails from all of you with your halloween costume ideas. how creative are you all? i demand pictures from everyone!
goodnight and thank you!
(yeah, that's from a morrissey song that's been swirling around in my head)

... MARY FREAKIN' POPPINS!!!!
i so know you want to steal the idea but please don't. if you did, you'd burn in hell and that would make me sad. but seriously, isn't this gonna be the funnest costume ever?
i already have most of the stuff. now i just need to do some small tweaking like attaching the parrot head to the umbrella, gluing cherries and daisies on the hat and adding the piping to my coat. this is gonna be so great! now if only i had something to do on halloween... maybe i'll just hang out with my nephew although going out and getting boozy would be muchly funner.
looking up the pictures renewed my lifelong love of julie andrews, btw. here she is in THE BEST adaptation of the eloise books EVER created. she was Nanny to a T!
and she pretty much kicked ass in "victor/victoria". look at that tux!
i think it's the wannabe flapper in me that made me love her so terribly in "thoroughly modern millie" because in all honesty, it kinda blew.
fishnets! see 'em peeking out? i didn't even notice that detail until now!
i'm slightly perturbed about the impending extradition of roman polanski that's been dominating the news lately. now we know what he did and we know that it was wrong, but why now? especially the day after the death of susan atkins, one of the manson followers who killed his wife and unborn child. i imagine that dredged up some sad memories for a man whose life was riddled with tragedy.
even his victim wants the case to be over. it's been over thirty years - let it go!

hmmm... something to do in my lack of spare time.
i spent all morning (6a to 11a) watching perry mason. like most chicks, i adore crime shows. at least i pay props to the master of the genre. think what you will - perry mason rocks.
smart, sassy, gorgeous, dedicated,
thank you
this is seattle. we're not equipped for weather like this. it throws our depression out of whack.
i'm trying to balance myself by listening to copious amounts of pulp. i played it through the computer all day at the office using pandora. i think i heard "common people" 11 times since i kept having to make new radio stations. every time it played something besides pulp, i hit the skip button. apparently you can only skip a certain amount of songs before you have to create a new station. pandora sucks.
90s era jarvis cocker does not suck. i blame it all on automne since her wedding renewed my pulp love. can't it just be all pulp all the time?
or at least today is like
granted they won't be as odd or gorgeous as this but i do promise to take pictures of the results and share them with you all. i just know you're dying to see what i do (that was sarcasm).
