6 and 60

i've been battling the worst allergies of my life this week - i'm sneezing and coughing (at the same time!) and nursing a sore throat but i managed to make it home for a birthday party yesterday.

my dad turned 60 on the 24th and xander turns 6 on the 29th so we had a fun little party for the two of them. xander gets another one on saturday, too.

when i got there, i was so tickled to see the badge xander made for himself and safety pinned to his shirt. it said "happy birh... xander" so i had to take a picture of it.

my sister keri and her husband showed up with ty who began trying to open every door and cupboard in the house. he always grins if i stick out my tongue at him!

as you can see, my mom prepared for this scenario by putting child locks on everything.

keri also brought assorted goodies from cupcake royale, my favorite place to get cupcakes!

after cupcakes and ice cream, the boys went out to xander's playhouse. it kinda makes me sick how precious they are.

sadly, my outside time kicked my allergies back into high gear. i ended up on the couch cough-sneezing my brains out! i was miserable as hell. my mom kept asking me if i was sure it wasn't swine flu.

xander felt bad for me so he dressed up in my clothes and ran around with skully over his face trying to make me smile.

we ended up watching "harry potter and the order of the phoenix" until i dozed off in a benadryl haze. i love my xander!

he and i have started this tradition of writing letters to each other that we read after i leave. he went to his playhouse to write my letter today.

with all the memorial day traffic, i had to leave earlier than planned today to get a ferry. had to work at 4! i sound like i've been gargling sandpaper but i made it to work and thank goodness i did. we were slammed and had a record setting day. yay us!

now i must rest. i'm hoping i can sneak in for a haircut tomorrow. i'm feeling shaggy.
