so bea arthur died

i'm kinda sad about that. i mean, yeah, she was 86 and all, but STILL! she was BEA!

so that was really the only crappy thing i allowed into my personal space this weekend. oh - and that big scratch down the side of my car. if anyone has any information...

i pulled into mom and dad's yard and found the peacocks on the roof of my sister's car crapping on the sunroof. heh heh.

jacob and i had a wonderful saturday evening. he bought me the coolest vintage eskimo salt and pepper shakers to add to my collection. (my initials are S.P. so it was a natural thing for me to start collecting, no?) then we went to dinner at an italian restaurant with drippy candles and i got spaghetti and meatballs. no, i didn't nudge it with my nose over to him. he knows i like him. we went to goodwill afterwards where we acted like strangers and then i propositioned him in the linens section. he swears he wasn't embarrassed.

today was devoted to xander. my parents did yard work and i took him to downtown port orchard for a spot of shopping.
this was the library i used to hang out in when i ditched school in my teens. i read vonnegut, burgess and orwell. xander started a bit leaner with sally and the something.
this is our new friend Kramer. we hearted him.
xander really fell for him and wanted to take him home. kramer lives in the cutest little antique store and i can't wait to go back there. the lady who ran it was so cool and sweet and didn't even mind xander laying under a table and petting kramer's belly. tres bien!
we bought a dolly at this great lil' shop. xander named her chrysalis alexandra. she wears red shoes and can dance the hoochie coochie. i love her, but i think blythe is a bit jealous.
this is the movie theater i frequented as a kid. i saw such life changing films as beetlejuice, pretty in pink, stand by me and back to the future for the first time here. it's an indie theater now. i'm just glad it's still a theater.
i told xander about the time it flooded when we were watching a movie. the whole front section was underwater! i was eight or nine. our parents had dropped us off to see a film and it was almost all gradeschool kids in there. when we realized what was going on, all hell broke loose and kids started using the center aisle as a waterslide. it actually took a few minutes before the theater staff realized what was going on. i feel kind bad for them now.
i don't think xander believed me.

across the street was the most fantastic candy store ever. we bought cream popcorn (i can't even describe it - it's heaven!), a candy necklace kit, and sampled home made fudge. yummmmmmmmmm. we hit one more antique store where i bought a dainty gold antique ladies tape measure to make into a pendant. it says, "LYDIA E PINKHAM'S VEGETABLE COMPOUND HERB MEDICINE PILLS for CONSTIPATION SANATIVE WASH" and no, i have no idea what that means.
xander was kinda sad when he realized chrysalis was going home with me. he was working on his candy necklace when i gave him the bad news.
she danced one last shimmy for him before disappearing into my overnight bag with my new (thrifted) embroidery hoops, cape sleeve coat with fur trim, 60s lounging gown which will soon be embroidered with the alfred hitchcock silhouette and a jar of cocoa mole sauce.
linus seems to get along with her pretty darn well.
it was a long, lovely weekend. time for some quick stitching with my new sublime stitches patterns and a good nights sleep. gotta post my wares on etsy tomorrow and prepare for my impending yard sale.
