she's up!!! oh no, wait... she's down

if falling was a sport, i'd be a pro by now! i think i trip over air if i'm not paying attention. don't worry - all i got were grassy knees. i love that i did this while attempting to pose for the camera. yay for self-timers!

ok, can i rave about anna bronwyn for a moment? i got an etsy convo last month from ms ab murphy offering a trade for my 40s crepe dress with the beading. i love swaps so i went right over to her store to check out her wares. lord, i wanted EVERYTHING!!!! she has the most amazing hair ornaments, paintings, jewelry... wow. i chose this gorgeous orchid that i'm wearing today and selected green and black netting to accompany it. guys, it's a REAL ORCHID forever preserved in resin. i love it and want to buy more. when i have money, that is. all of you should go buy her stuff in quantity. you will be as enamored as i am.

i woke up early today so i could pre-order my very own copy of Who Killed Amanda Palmer: A Collection of Photographic Evidence. as expected, the website couldn't handle the demand. the pre-sale was set to start at 9a pacific time. i was armed and ready - reloading the entry page until the "purchase" logo bounced up. let me tell you - it was insane!!! i was almost ripping my hair out trying to get the pages to load. i kept getting an "oops! this link appears to be broken" message or else just a loading screen that never really loaded. in the meantime, amanda herself was sitting in LAX and twittering like mad. my text alert on my cell phone kept beeping with reassuring messages from miss afp, urging everyone to keep trying to get their books. after two hours, i finally made it to the "purchase confirmation" page and even though i'd just spent $40 i don't really have, i felt like i'd won the lottery. i think i did a little touchdown dance and that napoleon dynamite "yessssssss!!" afterwards. so i lose my grocery money for the week - i care not. i wanted this stupid book so frickin' bad that i was prepared to go hungry to own it. sadly, it won't be out until mid july. *sigh*
i made a little trek to the goodwill but all i got were some target tights (score! brand new purple ones for $0.99!!!!) and a 60s black dress with a sweet little neck bow. the ladies at the check out counter called the other employees up to see my outfit and hair. it was so funny! one of them couldn't stop staring and repeating, "you look like a little china doll" over and over. then she asked to touch my hair. it wasn't embarassing but it got kinda weird. still, it was very flattering.

i'm dying an old wedding dress and some slips red. i'm feeling crafty today. i hope i can get all the dye outta the washer before bill tries to do laundry again. he'll kill me if his stuff turns pink. people already wonder of he's gay. pink socks would not be a good thing.

today's wardrobe inspiration is brought to you by trapeze artists of the early 1900s. yay for them!

if only their grace was as easy to imitate as their outfits.
