"and the daddy tomato said, 'ketchup!'"

so i haven't been keeping up on this like i should. here's a bit of catch-up on the past week or so.
last wednesday (after my meltdown) i went over to bremerton. alyson took me out to winterland. yup, she's the sweet cosmetic genius and all-around gorgeous gal who has gifted me some of my gorgeous hats, necklaces and sweaters. she got me to eat mozzarella sticks and stop crying. do i love her? heck yeah.

wednesday was the kick off for my dear friend james hunnicutt's tour. he is a dear friend and an incredible musician. (if you were at my benefit show in 2006, he was the solo artist who kicked off the show. he was also the 2006 winner of the seattle elvis invitationals.) go see him if he comes to your town. that is an order!

takara tomy neo can can cat blythe. love love love. want want want.
a peek inside my jumbled up sewing and embroidery box. well, one of my sewing boxes. some of the many features include a lone flash card, vintage upholstery trim, plastic gnomes, two strawberry shortcake doll combs (courtesy of darlene, aka victorian bustle),antique skeleton keys, an old metal cross, and a bunch of wooden nickels.
i have blue fingernails! special thank you to the incredible butter london for making me gorgeous with a much needed manicure. this color is called "artful dodger." remember him from oliver twist? yup - he's the "consider yourself" guy. you all would DIE if you saw this nail salon - black lacquered chandeliers, wall murals of the crown-wearing crow and flowers made out of gems, teapots adorned with slogans like "london calling", a wall of nail lacquers... love love love. heck, "dedicated follower of fashion" by the kinks was playing when i walked in! i really didn't wanna leave.
this is the fur cloak i'm restoring. and my foot.

this will be my next haircut. i am also lusting after the outfit.

the side view of the haircut.
dead-on front view of the haircut. extreme. love. want.

hanging out on my bed has become my official pastime. matt refers to it as nesting. cory just laughs because my habit of keeping so many things IN my bed as opposed to around it is reminiscent of gammy in the egg and i, my all-time favorite book. (gammy also wore her shoes on the wrong feet and her corsets upside-down and married a gambler.) betty macdonald was such a cool lady.
this is a picture i snapped of my ferry passing another one at night. i guess i'll title it "ferries passing in the night." that's deep.
i feel like i'm constantly riding the ferry lately. i had to go over a lot during the past week with the funeral and everything. grandpa got a military burial with three ceremonial rounds fired by some marines (? i think.), the flag on the casket, and the playing of "taps" which sent me into a hysterical crying jag. i feel better but i still cry when i think of him. i'm starting to tear up a bit now.
i haven't done a wardrobe remix submission or a daily outfit posting in a week. i know you can't really see the details, but here's the info anyway.

once i get the scariness in my life settled and figure out if i'll have to move or not, i'll catch you all up on that junk. let's just say i've stopped stressing about things that are out of my control because it was making me very very ill.
and i have a small assignment for you guys - sunday is my family's annual easter brunch and i haven't decided what to cook yet. i need some suggestions that:
1. won't cost too much $$$ to make
2. are unexpected and nontraditional, but still yummy
3. do not contain shellfish (i'm deathly allergic)
ok, there's your task. send me some links or recipes. there may be prizes involved for submissions...
