"No, no, this is the revolutionary costume!"

i woke up early to the sun shining in my eyes. yeah, i like the sun, but being blinded was not the best way to wake up since i fell asleep watching crazy love.
have you seen it? if you like documentaries about crazy people, you'll love it. gorgeous linda riss dumps her married boyfriend, burt pugach. he grows a creepy beatnik goatee and hires three thugs to throw lye in her face. she's blinded. he goes to jail. she starts wearing weird dark sunglasses. he gets released. they get married. crazy.
so that's why blindness was on my mind.

solanah has had several blog posts about embroidery and i finally decided to take the plunge and give it a go. i used to do it a bit years ago so i was in need of some new needles and embroidery floss. my mission for the day was to hit pacific fabric outlet (the BEST store for sewing supplies in seattle). then i was gonna go home, find embroidery patterns on the internet, and start stitching.
but here's the thing - i get sidetracked. easily. so my day didn't go exactly as planned.

first off, blythe wanted to play in the garden.
this meant i had to take pictures! staging the shots took a few minutes.
the camera loves her!
pacific fabric outlet is very close to the huuuuuuuuuuuuuge goodwill. i simply had to go there!
my new favorite section at the goodwill is the trophy aisle. i didn't know they GAVE trophies for this! i think i just have a dirty mind...
sadly, they remove the little plaques from the front of the trophies before selling them. *sigh*
this was one of those rare days when i found tons of great stuff. i bought six fabulous dresses including a black velvet Lanz Original and a burgundy square dancing dress with beautiful white eyelet trim, a swiss inspired bathrobe, a beautiful cream colored knit beret from the 60s, and an All in the Family record. a sweet little indie rock couple in line next to me were in love with this particular item. it's mere presence in my cart somehow got everyone in three lines discussing the merits of the show. personally, i just got it for the theme song. oh, and the bitchin' cover art.
this is tumblin' tomboy. i found her disturbing.
some bitchy goodwill lady yelled at me for taking my cart back by the jewelry display case. "no cart here. you take out."
"uh, ok. i didn't see the sign that said that."
"no sign."
"so ma'am, how was i supposed to know not to take a cart back here?"
"my job. i tell."
"well, you kinda suck at your job then. i got halfway through this section before you even acknowledged my presence. maybe i should find your boss and take your job from you!"
"you mean."
"yeah, i am. by the way, that bag in the display case isn't a louis vuitton. it's xoxo. it's worth, like, a dollar." i'm such a bitch.
i also yelled at two kids riding bicycles through the clothing section. little shits. my mom would've smacked me if i had ever tried that. i really think some kids should be spanked. if their parents won't do it, i volunteer.
while i was paying for my great treats, i got a text from my sister inviting me to go with her to costco. costco is also in sodo. i needed perrier so i met up with her there.
the great thing about shopping at costco is the fact that they feed you! we "ate" our way through the aisles. we had dried fruit, cheese tortellini, pepsi natural, toll house cookies, blueberry yoplait and turkey sausage. full now!
i got frozen boneless skinless chicken breast tenders and perrier. i know, i'm no fun. i did lose control of the cart and slam into a refrigerator case. ty laughed and threw his hat at me. luckily my sister didn't see this happen.
so now i have frozen food. yikes! bad news on a sunny day. this means i gotta grab what i need at pacific fabric outlet and get back to the car. i snagged a bunch of embroidery floss, new needles and a floss organizer and was outta there in less than five minutes. this is a new record for me.
the cats were on the roof when i pulled up. as soon as i opened the door, they flew out through my legs causing me to drop the chicken and spill my overstuffed goodwill bag. meanies.
my cats select only the finest greens for their barfs.
so finally, i get to start looking for embroidery patterns and just look at what i found:
holy crap - is that great or what? andrea zuill has some incredible little patterns. i like her style. i also found some black apple embroidery patterns. so cute! printing as we speak... so glad i still have my transfer paper from years ago.
ok. i did get a tad distracted but i reached my goal. the rest of the evening will be devoted to really bad movies and stitch witchery. here we go!!!
